A Better Image Search We all know of the joy that is Google image search. You can find pictures of just about anything on there, but did you know that the rabbit hole goes much deeper than just typing in a word or phrase into the search box? For example, say you want to look for an image of a specific size. Simply use the drop-down box to choose large, extra large, medium or small image sizes. Additionally, you can refine your search using the other drop-down to specify search terms for faces, line drawings, clip art and much more! You can even search by color if you like!
It doesn't stop there, though! If you click the “Advanced Image Search” link a whole array of extra options spring up! Here, you can get really, really specific as to what you're looking for. Exact dimensions, specific filetypes; you can even look for images that match your desktop resolution!

Q: A: To find your newly-installed program, go to the Start menu and select All Programs. You may have to hold your mouse over the All Programs option for a few moments to get the full list instead of the recently-used list. Just scroll to your program and click on it to start. Now for the neat part: in most XP setups, your recently installed program will be highlighted in yellow. Printing "This Way and That" in MS Word Here's a situation that's a bit perplexing for some… Let's suppose that you have a Word document and you need some pages printed in portrait and some printed in landscape orientation. I know many people who when put in a situation like this would scratch their heads, do a bit of surfing through Word's menus (or the Ribbon) and then pick up the phone and call, well… me. So here's the advice I'd give them: First thing that needs to be done is to decide where the breaks in the printing orientation should occur. Both before and after the information to be landscape printed we need to insert section breaks.
Again, be sure to insert this type of section break at any point where the page orientation will change - including when you change it back to portrait. Now it's time to actually make the orientation change: To do this you need to place your cursor on the page to be switched to landscape.
In the Page Setup dialog box, on the Margins tab, you need to select Landscape, make sure that at the bottom it's set for "This Section" and click OK. And there you have it - different page orientations in the same Word document. Now you too can print "this way and that". ~ April That'll come in handy! I'm going to start with my absolute FAVORITE feature! It's a preview pane and it's the one thing that seriously missing from Windows! How's it work? Easy - simply enable the plane (it's a quick on and off), then click a file. A preview of that file will show up in the preview pane! It's amazingly handy - I mean, have you ever been sorting through a folder full of files and thought, "Gee I wonder what that is?" With this, the answer is just a click away!
This can preview just about everything too - we're talkin' almost any kind of photo (jpegs, gif, even Photoshop PSD files - I couldn't find anything it couldn't preview), office documents (word, excel, etc), text files, HTML files, PDFs, just about anything you can think of! We're talking a whoppin' 150 different file types! WOW!! This one feature alone is easily worth the price of the software, but it gets even better! Ever misplace a file? Windows has a hard time finding it again, ya know? Well, just wait till you try the outstanding File Search feature inside of this program! You can locate files by name, date, size, path, contents, type - and much more! Heck, it can even find MP3 files based on title or artist name - now that's power! Why the PhD's at Microsoft decided it was a good idea to stick the "Show Desktop Icons" item under the "Arrange Icons" menu is a head scratcher for sure, but that's where it is. Windows Vista Instructions: Almost the same procedure here, just a slightly different location. Right-Click your desktop, and under View un-check "Show Desktop Icons".

Audacity For this week's download, I have found a great one called Audacity. It is a program used to edit and enhance audio files and it has so many features, it would be impossible to list them all here. But, to give you a little taste, a few of the features include cutting and trimming audio files, reducing static and interference, recording custom MP3s, amplifying sounds and mixing audio tracks, among others. It's kind of like a mini recording studio! I personally use Audacity for mixing audio tracks for videos I record, but there are hundreds of other uses for this program as well. Also, be sure to check out the add ons for Audacity. They add even more functionality to this awesome free program!

Do you have an mp3 that you love but it is just too quiet? Well now you can make it louder without having to blast the volume! On top of providing an excellent service it is free and easy to use! My Personal Little Horror Story - A couple years back I was testing some software on my computer. I did the install, rebooted, and the computer was totally useless. It wouldn't boot, Windows was totally corrupted - it looked like a real disaster. Can you imagine how much work it was to get that going again? Surprise! I was back up and running in about 45 minutes! Luckily, I had made an image of the drive and I simply restored that image! All my data, programs, etc were ready to go and in less than an hour I was back at the computer like nothing had happened! Everything was EXACTLY the way it was when I made the image! Having an image is SOOOOOOO much easier then trying to reinstall windows, spending a day getting up to date with your patches, installing all your programs (and trying to find all the serial numbers), and getting all your data back on your computer (assuming there was any left). Why risk lost data, hours of work, and lost of frustration when you can make an image? In an hour you could be back up and running like nothing ever happened! Disk Imaging software is normally expensive too - we're talking $80 or so - and one of the best imaging programs I've run across is actually included with this program! Even if you don't think you're gonna need the recovery software, the disk image software included with this makes it a must-have! As if all the above weren't enough, this also has what it calls a File Terminator! This part of the software can take sensitive files and delete them permanently and forever - nothing can recover them! This is fantastic if you have sensitive information on your computer that you just don't want anyone else to ever had access to! Important financial documents, bank statement, loan info, stock records - I'm sure you can think of a few files on your computer right now that you wouldn't want strangers to have access to! Well, when you're done with them, this can make 'em disappear - forever! Just enable the feature in Search & Recover and it will add a Terminator item to your right-click menu! Just right-click any item you want gone forever, and hit Terminate! It's that easy!
